The final self-chosen project of my Video Game Narrative and Critique course at the University of Texas; the design document for "The Ends of Earth" was a culmination of many of my skills, interests, and aspirations. The model for such a document was formed from researching classic design documents in the industry, such as those for Diablo and Grand Theft Auto, and demonstrated a unique utility to clearly and succinctly sell the appeal of a new title while simultaneously organizing it for production.

I spent a lot of time playing games and critically studying how they worked - both on a technical and creative level - in making appealing and affecting experiences for audiences that reached far beyond my own perspective. I learned how the different facets of a multimedia medium, in games, requires the synchronicity and harmony of many different creative endeavors and organizational departments - each aspect in the final product informing the design of those adjacent to it. I sought the balance between something fresh, engaging, and exciting - while still being immediately intriguing enough to audiences and would-be investors alike to give the work a chance.

Games are all about the delicate balance between art, software, and business - and neglecting any one of the three will result in a compromised work that fails to live up to its promise. As someone who values both autership, and reaching wide audiences, the intersectional perspective and holistic approach I've taken to creative development and project management is essential.
